I've had a blast exploring the web site and my daughter got a big kick out of my 8th & 9th grade pics (she is currently in 8th grade).
2010 in Nashville?? Sounds good to me. I'll try to be there. I was born in Nashville, but haven't been back since I was two years old. I will be eligible for early retirement from Saudi Aramco that year, but will probably stay longer if no one chases me out.
We've been in Saudi Arabia for a little more than five years. I work in the Environmental Protection Department of Saudi Aramco (some might consider that an oxymoron), the largest oil company in the world. Cora and I have been married for almost 24 years. We have three daughters. Elizabeth is 16 and is a sophomore at Fountain Valley (boarding) School in Colorado Springs. Kristen is 15 and a freshman at Thacher (boarding) School in Ojai, California. Teresa is 13 and an 8th grader at the company school here in Dhahran. The company schools don't continue past 9th grade, so the company subsidizes boarding school from 10th to 12th grade. I think that the school experience here is similar in many ways to ISKL.
Living and working in Saudi Arabia has been interesting; at times too interesting. The best part has been the many travel opportunities. We've been all over the Middle East and have also made trips to Europe, Africa, Asia, and Australia. I haven't yet been back to Malaysia or Indonesia. Maybe soon.
Here's a brief rundown of my comings and goings since ISKL:
1971-1974; Rolla High School, Rolla, Missouri
1974-1978; CalTech, Pasadena, California (Stanley Chen, ISKL '77?, was there at the same time and I also looked up Bob Kingston, ISKL '73, in LA during this period)
1978-1990; Engineer with The Ralph M. Parsons Co., Pasadena, CA
1990-1992; Engineer with EG&G Idaho at the Idaho National Lab in Idaho Falls, Idaho
1992-2000; Engineer with Morrison Knudsen, Boise, Idaho
2000-present; Engineer with Saudi Aramco, Dhahran, Saudi Arabia
My brother Tom also attended ISKL from 1969-1971. He would have been in the class of '77. I think he was good friends with Paul Ishii. He is now a lawyer in Tallahassee, FL.
Thanks for getting in touch.
Hope to see you in 2010.
Jim
